The inspiration for this painting came from the Ardara fiddler, John "the tae" Gallagher, who was famous throughout Ireland and beyond. This painting is one of many on the traditional music theme in the Studio Gallery. Traditional musicians from all over the country come to Ardara on the May bank holiday weekend every year to take part in the Cup of tae Festival which honours the memory of John.
